a landmark year for ifhs

As we gather in front of our Crab Pot Christmas Tree, the team at Iliuliuk Family and Health Services, Inc. is taking a moment to reflect on a truly transformative year. 2025 has been defined by our commitment to elevating the standard of care for Unalaska and the Bering Sea fleet.

This year, we reached several historic milestones:

Level 5 Trauma Center Designation: In August, IFHS officially became Alaska’s first designated Level 5 Trauma Center. This recognition reflects the high-level emergency care our team has always provided and ensures we have the formal state support to continue saving lives on the island.
Progress on the Clinic Expansion: We successfully moved into the pre-construction phase of our $20 million facility expansion. This project is more than just new walls; it’s the future of healthcare in Unalaska, featuring modular upgrades for a new Emergency Department, Laboratory, Radiology and Pharmacy built to modern hospital codes.
Expanding Access: From routine checkups and behavioral health support to life-saving medevacs, our staff managed thousands of patient visits this year, ensuring that no matter how remote our location, quality healthcare is always within reach.

The PCMH model is an approach to delivering high-quality, cost-effective primary care, and has been associated with effective chronic disease management, increased patient and provider satisfaction, cost savings, improved quality of care, and increased preventive care.

IFHS uses a patient-centered, culturally appropriate, and team-based approach, coordinating patient care across the health system. We work as a team to help support maximum health and well-being for each of our patients.
